What is required from strategy professionals is always changing and evolving. It is vital that both consultants and industry professionals are always up to date with the latest trends in the market. This includes the ever-growing importance of technology and digitisation which has led to the transformation and up-skilling of many organisations in the Middle East. Industry clients remain keen on placing candidates who have a mix of high-level strategy consulting backgrounds coupled with operational experience ensuring they can drive significant change.
We continue to see growth in industries such as energy, entertainment, sport, real estate, investment holding companies and healthcare all requiring talent both in consulting and industry. There is more competition now than ever before between consulting firms when it comes to hiring top talent in the market, this is due to the fact that candidates are more reluctant to relocate from abroad, therefore putting top talent in the market in the driving seat. Furthermore, even though consultants looking to exit consulting into industry for better work-life balance has always been a motivating factor for consultants to make the transition, since the start of 2019 when consultants started being able to spend more time at home and travel less, we have seen a greater influx of consultants approaching us than in recent years.
Overall, while we have seen our industry clients make key strategic hires in order to drive transformation and navigate through some recent challenging times, consulting remains our busiest area. While consulting firms did see some hiring freezes during the pandemic, we have seen a major upturn with firms not only hiring due to attrition but hiring to keep up with project requests and volume of work.

About me
Michael has been working in recruitment in the Middle East since 2013, working with both Industry and Consulting clients. At Cooper Fitch, Michael heads up the Technology, Strategy & Management Consulting team where he has successfully delivered on mandates with Big 4, Top tier strategy firms and Boutique Consultancies placing candidates from Associate to Partner level. Furthermore, he has worked with large government entities helping to build their PMO and SMO offices as well as large multinationals recruiting into Corporate Strategy teams.
